Hello My Name Is...
Hi there and welcome to my page! Here's a bit about me: I love being a first grade teacher here at Benton Elementary! I'm originally from Massachusetts and I have my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Simmons College there. I'm very happy to be teaching here in Maine and especially at Benton! I love being a part of such a wonderful and welcoming community here! When I'm not at school, my husband, daughter, english bulldog Maximus and I love to spend time together and with our friends and family.
You should also know that in first grade we have a ton of fun! On top of all the incredible learning that we do in the classroom daily through many different avenues and approaches like hands-on learning, technology, small and large group activities, and SO much more, we also get to supplement our learning with some in-house and off-site field trips throughout the year as well. The bottom line is, that in first grade we do a TON of learning, and we have a TON of fun doing it in lots of different ways!
In addition, I personally use a website in my room called Class Dojo as a comprehensive and engaging classroom community tool. It allows for communication between me and all the families in my class to be easy, immediate, and all in one location. Families can check in on what is going on in the classroom and school through my posts, as well as instantly message me directly in reference to any questions or concerns of any kind. There are also times when families will see their student's work displayed on our completely private and self-contained website for our class only that just the family and I are able to access. Families can also check in on how their child is doing behaviorally in real time throughout the day. I can't say enough about how awesome an addition to my classroom Class Dojo has been, and how much it has helped open up and streamline communication in my classroom! Anyone can check out the general website (www.classdojo.com) at any time and click on "Learn More" to get an idea of what the site has to offer!
And so, after this very brief overview about me and my classroom, if you have any other questions feel free to contact me through the "Contact Me" page!! Thanks so much for checking in with me!
