Math

As a district we use the enVisionmath2.0 Common Core Program. This program is aligned with the Common Core State Standards and is broken down into 16 topics. Each Topic begins with a Review What You Know and My Word Cards. Here the children revisit previous concepts and the word cards help to build vocabulary that is necessary for the upcoming topic. The topic closes with a topic test.

Each day 's lesson begins with the. The Common Core Review. These key skills have been taught previously. The Common Core Review helps to deepen the understanding of fourth grade concepts as well as preparing the students for the End of Year Assessment. Following the Common Core Review the children are involved in the Solve and Share (a rich problem for the students to discuss and share solution strategies). This activity helps them make sense of and decide on a workable solution to a real-world situation. Next, we watch the Visual Learning Animation to build an understanding through conversation and to see how the math of the day works. From here we move on to complete the Guided Practice problems as either as whole group or with a partner. Then it is on to work on their own to engage the math practice by completing either the Independent Practice and or the Online Practice Buddy. Mathematics workshop comes to a close by completing the online Quick Check assessment. The children also use Fastt Math and IXL. To sharpen their fact fluency and basic skills.
