Benton Elementary has been my second home for fourteen years! Over those years, I have taught 5th and 6th grade. I currently teach sixth grade next door to my team-teacher, Mrs. Hopper.
Sixth grade is a fabulous year! Students are really transitioning into young adults and preparing for the big step of Junior High. They are excited for a new school, new friends, and new opportunities. Obviously, academics are our priority, however, I feel it equally important to work on the skills of becoming positive members of society. I pride myself on creating a classroom that feels safe, comfortable, and welcoming. We spend our year following the "Four Words to Live By"...Kindness, Respect, Responsibility, and Integrity. These characteristics help students become highly successful in their classroom, as well as in their community.
"Around here, we don't look backwards for very long...
We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and
doing new things because we're curious...
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths!"
